Mountain View Market

Mountain View Market is located in Las Cruces, New Mexico, just 40 miles from the Mexican border, in the Mesilla Valley. Our community thrives on a rich cultural history, 350 days of sunshine a year, and an active farming community fed by the Rio Grande River.

In 1975 on the New Mexico State University campus, a group of students decided to pool their resources and create a buying club in order to purchase whole foods at bulk prices. Very soon the operation became so large that it was more practical to open a store. A little building (originally a house) on Foster Street in Las Cruces became home to Organ Mountain Co-op. The store has always been open to the public.

We are proud that our store also serves as an informal gathering place for many people seeking to build strong community in our area through the use of our Community Room and our seasonal Growers Market.

In October of 2011 we began leasing a 2 1/2 acre farm in the fertile Mesilla Valley. We have a full-time farm manager who oversees diverse mixed-vegetable production, laying hens, and an in-depth composting operation that includes active vermiculture. This farm allows us to strengthen our commitment to local food security, our community's agricultural heritage, and ensure the continued access to healthy, sustainable food and education. We are proud to offer our farm's produce both in store and at area farmers' markets.
